Sermon from October 25, 2009 — WHAT IF CHURCH WAS A PLACE TO ASK QUESTIONS?

Scripture Reading: Mark 10:46-52

Have you ever been a part of a conversation like this before?

“Why do I have to do it today?  Why can’t I do it tomorrow?  What’s the purpose? Why can’t you get someone else to help?  Why can’t I go out with my friends first?”

Can you guess the next part of the conversation?  It goes something like this – “Stop asking questions and just do it.”

Have you heard this statement, “Stop asking questions and just believe?”  Is that the message the church gives out?  Should that be the message the church gives out?

Where did we ever get the idea that church is a place for people who have all the answers?
